Volunteer Ollie Pentz
Ollie came to the Lady Nuffield Home in September 2014. At the age of 16 he was a confident young man who could be trusted to run an activity session on his own. Over 200 crosswords later Ollie is 18 and will be heading off to University in Brighton to study medicine. He held his last crossword session with the group last Thursday.
Before Ollie left us I felt that he deserved recognition for his volunteering and so I nominated him for a Volunteer award with OCVA. Jenny, Emily and I joined Ollie and his Mum Fiona at the Oxford Town Hall on Tuesday 9th May to see him get his certificate but to our surprise Ollie was chosen out of 50 volunteers as the overall winner for the Young Volunteer of the year award! He has been a shining star over the last 2 and a half years and we will miss his fun crossword sessions on a Thursday but we all wish him every bit of luck and success for the future. He promises to let us know how his exams go!
